## Start with the scope

PUB requires a Licensed Plumber for regulated water-service and sanitary plumbing work. It also publishes a list of simple jobs that can be done without that licence, including certain tap, hose and sanitary-fixture tasks. Check the actual job against [PUB's plumbing guidance](https://www.pub.gov.sg/Professionals/Requirements/Licensed-Plumbers/Plumbing-Works); a small-looking job is not automatically exempt.

## Check the named plumber

1. Follow PUB's official link to its licensed-plumber listings.
2. Ask the provider for the responsible plumber's name and licence number.
3. Match those details against the public listing and licence card.
4. Confirm who will carry out or oversee your specific work.
5. Ask PUB to clarify any unresolved mismatch before regulated work starts.

A business name may differ from the licensed individual's name. Ask for the connection rather than treating either a company registration or a similar name as confirmation.

Remember ACRA only confirms the business legally exists, it is not the PUB licence check above.

## Ask before the visit

- Does this job fall within the regulated scope or the simple-works list?
- What is the attendance fee if I decline the repair?
- What parts and labour are included?
- Will you ask before extending the job or price?
- What warranty and invoice will I receive?

## Compare written quotes

Give each provider the same description and photos where useful. Ask for the total, including any transport charge and applicable GST. If diagnosis changes the scope, request a revised quote before the extra work begins.
