## Start with the kind of clean

A weekly tidy, a one-off home clean and post-renovation cleaning are different jobs. An hourly starting rate does not tell you whether equipment, specialist products or enough time for your home are included. Give each company the same room count, tasks and preferred date.

## Compare what happens after booking

Ask who supplies the cleaner, whether the same person can return, and what happens if someone is unavailable. Check cancellation deadlines, refunds, minimum hours and whether supplies are included. For any advertised insurance or guarantee, read the cover and exclusions.

## Use ratings as supporting evidence

Look at the number, date and relevance of reviews. A company's overall rating may cover services other than home cleaning. It cannot establish who will attend your booking or guarantee the result.
