A loose cupboard hinge, a faulty socket and a leaking concealed pipe require different skills. A site offering several home services may arrange a specialist, employ its own staff or introduce you to another business. Ask which arrangement applies to your booking.

Check who is responsible

Before paying, get the business name that will appear on the quote and invoice. Confirm who attends, who handles a complaint and who provides any warranty. Keep the booking confirmation and messages about changes to the work.

An app's convenient booking flow does not establish that the person attending holds a licence required for the specific work. Ask for the worker's details when regulated work is involved.

Named platforms compared, checked 14 Sep 2026: Everyworks books via WhatsApp and publishes prices only for aircon servicing (from SGD 65 for 1 unit to SGD 140 for 6, one-time) — no handyman price list is published. Call Handyman quotes in-app and states its workers are "license-checked and background-verified," a claim not independently corroborated. FUSS.sg is a cleaning platform, not handyman or repair, priced from SGD 25 per hour flat rate — included here only because it appeared in the original brief, not as a handyman comparison. Airtasker is an open-bid task marketplace with no fixed prices, covering 80-plus task categories. Carousell is a classifieds/listings marketplace with no in-platform booking, fixed pricing or payment flow, so it is not scored as a platform here.

Separate diagnosis from repair

Ask whether the initial payment buys an inspection, a fixed task or time on site. Establish the charge if the repair cannot be completed or you decline the revised quote. Send clear photos and model numbers where relevant, but expect that some faults need inspection.
