Chemical wash - James did a great job !

We had moved into the house a few months ago and the air conditioners had been used only occasionally. When the technicians came for first servicing, they told us that the outdoor unit needed to be cleaned. This was not a chemical wash; they only wiped it with a cloth, yet they charged $80 plus GST per outdoor unit cleaning. They also charged $120 plus GST to top up the refrigerant gas. They said the gas pressure was “100” when the “full level” should be “150” and strongly recommended topping it up. According to them, failing to do so could clog the pipe and eventually cause the air conditioner to stop cooling, even though we had not experienced any cooling problems. They also claimed that refrigerant usually needs to be topped up every 1 to 1.5 years. We trusted their professional advice and agreed to pay. However, we remained suspicious because the aircon servicing company we used at our previous home had never charged separately to wipe the outdoor unit and had never asked us to top up the gas. I had also informed them that I wanted to sign up for a servicing contract and understood from their customer service officer that this first servicing could be included under the contract. However, the technician refused. He insisted that the contract would save only about $10 for this trip and that I had to pay separately for this visit (not under contract). After completing the work, they repeatedly pushed us to leave a five-star Google review. I declined because I did not feel fully comfortable with the experience. Later, after reading the one-star reviews online, I noticed that several other customers reported similar experiences. They were also told that their refrigerant gas needed topping up, even when their air conditioners were relatively new, rarely used, and still cooling normally. Overall, I found the experience unprofessional and felt pressured into paying for services that were not clearly justified. I am very unhappy with how the matter was handled.

Engage MA servicing and was impressed with Michael and his team for their knowledge and technical skills. Michael is friendly and gives honest feedback for my AC condition with proof from photos. He spotted minor and major issues from his pre-assessment and help to rectify them. I’m satisfied with his service and definitely engage them again.
