I sent in 2 hard disks, one WD and one Toshiba, which were quite seriously damaged. There were hard disks parts and they were quite difficult to source and hence it took a lot of patience and care to actually source for these parts and to actually recover them so that on average I got back about 95% of my data! I'm very happy with the service and also the professional way in which the disks were recovered and then how the data was showed to us to check before payment was made!

Managed to recover 100% of very important files. Very pleased with this. I believe the engineer was Steven that worked on my damaged drive. Took longer than expected due to the extent of the damage. They also gave some useful advice on how to prevent further issues with external drives. I would recommend them!

My photos library on my external SSD wouldn’t open with my MacBook. Sarah gave me a call and advised me what the procedure would be like and the approximate cost if any problems were found. I dropped off my ssd, they did their checks and didn’t find any problems. Their checks must have fixed the issues, but because there was no problem with my drive they didn’t charge me anything. Recommend contacting them if you have any issues with your data.

Great relief the engineers managed to recover all my data successfully from my damaged iPhone 14. The phone failed suddenly and brought to QCD and they advised is Motherboard failure. Came to CBL for help and they were very patient in the process. They allow to check all the files before payment made which was reassuring. Very helpful front desk service staff

My macbook air suddenly failed on me and had to urgently retrieve my data - CBL were very understanding of the urgency of my situation and were very prompt with the data recovery - taking less than a day to retrieve my data and I was able to collect my device in 2 days. Appreciate all their help and efforts to recover my important data from my spoilt iP12 Pro after it failed suddenly. Apple staff could not assist me when my phone had auto shut down stuck at Apple logo problem. They told me reset is the only option. I called a few companies and sent in to CBL next day for urgent diagnosis. They needed some time to recover all my data but all data was saved including my WhatsApp and memos. Their engineers and service staff Sarah are very patient and friendly they even helped me backup to another new hard disk and during collection they helped with backing up to iCloud. Overall very satisfied I managed to recover back all my important data 👍🏻👍🏻

I sent in my hard disk for repair and Steven"s team manage to retrieve 98% of my files, mostly pictures Thanks to his team's effort. It took a few months but I didn't rush them as I understand that it takes lots of time and I truly appreciate their help. Now, I will copy two sets instead of one just in case as it is not cheap. Accidentally wiped out my iPhone while I was backing up my phone and updating to new iOS (phone went into Apple logo recovery mode). Tried many times to restore back using Apple Devices App with my PC without luck, but CBL managed to recover and restore my backup data to my phone successfully (100% data recovery). Just picked up my phone (very old iPhone) from which I was hoping to retrieve all my pics. The phone was so old and ruined and didn’t even charge anymore so I really didn’t hold much hope. My portable hard drive failed to be read suddenly one day. This led me to look around for data recovery companies. CBL Data recovery was one of the companies that stood out with strong reviews and close follow through. They responded quickly to my online enquires and provided timely update to the repair process. CBL was fortunately able to recover nearly all of my HDD data despite the degeneration of the HDD. Total downtime was about 2 weeks. Had a good experience with CBL recovery despite the possibility of loss of significant data. Grateful for their help.

Sent in defective HDD on 29 July 2025 & by 15 Aug 2025, I could finally receives all my recovered data. Everything costed me (initially $985) but it was tooooo costly for me as I am only a housewife doing a home-based business but they were kind and gracious enough to grant a 20% discount. I paid $180 (for diagnostic fee) + $608 (for data retrieval fee) = so total $788 CBL staff (Melissa) always give me update (although have to always chase her for update) For me, it's really an anxious time when precious data is involved cos I have clients I have to answer to. So, I'm always asking for update every 2-3 days. Engineer Steven also tried his best to expedite the data recovery and I am thankful his hard work. Thank you Melissa for also being professional & helped to offer the 20% discount (greatly appreciate it) Also, please note that when you want to send in ur item for data recovery, standby an authentic HDD for them to transfer to (so that you do have to make multiple trips just to send a back-up HDD to transfer the recovered data)

My Redmi Note 9 was stuck on Boot loop issue. The engineers tried a few times and told me there was a very slim chance of recovering the data because of motherboard issue. But they tried another method and managed to reboot the phone! The apps and data are intact. Thank you very much for not giving up on my phone :)

Extremely grateful to Melissa and the team of engineers at CBL Data Recovery for being my GOD sent angels who worked tirelessly on retrieving almost all (99%) of my data from my malfunctioned external hard disk in the shortest timeframe. Their professional expertise started from the very first contact point with Melissa, who listened to my unfortunate experience of being unable to connect to my external hard disk. Within minutes, she had me come over and assured that by the end of the day, the engineers would let me know if my data can be retrieved. And true to their word, before the day ended, I received a call from Melissa to say that the engineers have completed the free scan and 99% of the data can be retrieved. Melissa and the engineers truly made something which seemed impossible to me - to be possible through them - which is retrieving my data of more than 16 years of hard and heartwork. CBL did a great job in recovering all of the data from my liquid damaged MacBook Pro. They actually had to repair some of the hardware on the damaged motherboard. They acceded to my request to save into Time Machine format. I have since restored into a new Mac. Michelle and her team were very accommodating to my urgent request. Strongly recommend CBL!

The external hdd that I've been using for work stopped working at the worst possible time. Rushed all over to find a place to recover the data but none could do an on-the-spot diagnosis (I needed the data urgently). Found CBL and they managed to expedite the recovery of the data I needed at the time within a few days. Melissa was very helpful in the process.

Absolutely appalling experience. I entrusted CBL with a critical drive, and what followed was a mess of dishonesty, poor communication, and zero accountability. Initially, they claimed the data had been successfully recovered. When I asked for proof, I was stonewalled with vague and evasive responses. Upon finally getting access, it was clear that most of the important data was missing. Only after pushing back repeatedly and arguing did they bother to attempt a proper recovery — which they could have done from the start. Particularly unprofessional was Melissa Tay. Her handling of the situation was dismissive and evasive. She consistently avoided responsibility, failed to provide clear answers, and showed no regard for the stress caused by the delays and misinformation. Her conduct was not just unprofessional, it was dishonest. If you're in a vulnerable situation and hoping for competent, ethical service — avoid this company at all costs. You’ll be met with high fees, incomplete recovery, and a business model that seems to thrive on taking advantage of desperation. Disgraceful. [Update after company response:] I see that CBL has responded claiming they can’t identify my case. To clarify: I am a real customer. I used a different email address for this review to protect both my privacy and that of my employer. This does not invalidate the experience I described. The issues I raised misleading claims about recovery, lack of transparency, and poor handling are accurate. It’s disappointing that instead of addressing these concerns, the company chose to discredit the review. I encourage others to read all reviews carefully and decide for themselves. [Final Update:] CBL returned my data on a “refurbished” drive that now shows hundreds of pending sectors, a failed SMART self-test, and extreme wear. In other words, the disk they supplied is itself failing. For a paid recovery service, this is unacceptable and unsafe. My experience stands: incomplete recovery, poor communication, and unreliable hardware.

My old SONY hard drive was accidentally wiped out in a split second after connecting to another PC. Worried all my files not able to retrieve. I found CBL and sent to them for assessment and recovery. They successfully retrieved back most of my files and stored on a new disk. Big thank you to the engineers for assistance

Great service & accountability especially in times like these. Apple Centre, unfortunately could not diagnose the issue with the 2018 Macbook Pro and was required to leave the laptop before any further analysis was taken. The scenario differed with CBL - not only did they articulate the issues concisely, they repaired the faulty motherboard and the data was also retrieved within 3 days (excluding the weekend). A huge relief, thank you.

Superb services. My MacBook is unable to boot and they successfully retrieve all my data within a week. I felt very safe because they kept the process transparent and informing me for each steps taken. Even though I wish that you don't have to deal with data recovery issues, I would recommend CBL if you're having one.
