   0/5 stars if I could. The worst experience Ive had. I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Urban Walls. After receiving their quotation, I reviewed the scope of works and noticed that the description was extremely brief, stating only that they would “supply labour & materials to limewash all walls only for the whole house” for a contract value of $9,500. As a homeowner, I wanted the quotation to clearly document the scope that had already been discussed, including surface preparation, base coats, areas covered, scaffolding, and the estimated commencement period. I was not requesting additional work or a price reduction. My intention was simply to ensure both parties had a common understanding of what was included and to avoid misunderstandings during the project. Shockingly, instead of discussing the requested clarifications, the vendor informed me that they do not amend quotations based on client requests and decided to void the quotation altogether, effectively withdrawing from the project. Every homeowner has a different level of comfort when committing to a renovation contract. Personally, I believe it is reasonable to seek clarity on a $9,500 project before paying a deposit. I was disappointed that a request for a more detailed written scope resulted in the vendor walking away rather than addressing the concerns. This has also caused extreme inconvenience to me as I have already declined the other vendors after receiving the quotation from urban walls. I would strongly caution homeowners before engaging this vendor. In an industry where vague quotations and scope disputes are common, I felt it was entirely reasonable to request a clearer written scope before committing to a $9,500 project. Instead of providing clarification, the vendor chose to withdraw from the project altogether. The fact that a simple request for clearer documentation resulted in the engagement being terminated screams a lack of transparency from them.

We initially provided our quotation, and upon your request for a lower price, we made adjustments to accommodate your budget. 2. The scope of work required scaffolding, which involved additional costs. Despite this, we agreed to include it within the quoted price following your request. 3. You later requested an extension of the scaffolding period as it was needed by your electrician. While we were not obligated to do so, we accommodated your request and extended the scaffolding for an additional four days. However, you also requested that our quotation terms state that any further extensions would be borne by us. Unfortunately, this is not a fair or commercially viable arrangement for our business. 4. Subsequently, you revised the scope of work and requested limewash application for a smaller area. We provided a revised quotation accordingly. However, you continued to request further price reductions and inclusive of scaffolding, which we were unable to accommodate. 5. You requested a lower deposit amount, and we agreed to your request. 6. You also requested alternative credit card payment terms for your collections of miles and we made efforts to accommodate those requirements as well. We do also absorbed the credit card adminstrative fee out of good will upon your request. 7. You also requested that the final finish be consistent with the approved sample board, which does not make practical sense, as the appearance of a sample board can vary compared with the limewash finish across the whole house. Unlike conventional paint or mass-produced wallpaper, Limewash is a premium, artisanal finish for its organic textures and the unique, hand-crafted variations created by the artisan's touch. Expecting a large-scale wall to identically match a small sample board is technically impractical and completely undermines the inherent artistic value of this specialty craft. Considering all of the above, we believe we have done our best to be flexible and accommodating throughout our discussions. However, some of the contractual terms requested were not practical or sustainable within our business processes. As a result, we regrettably had no choice but to decline proceeding with the project. While we understand and respect that every homeowner has a different level of comfort before committing to a renovation project, we ultimately concluded that the project was not the right fit for our company and decided not to proceed before any contract was signed or deposit was collected. As with any business relationship, both homeowners and contractors have the right to determine whether a project is suitable for them before entering into a contractual agreement. Our decision was not related to a lack of transparency, but rather a business decision based on our assessment of the overall engagement.    I do not usually leave negative reviews, but after spending almost S$6,000 on specialist limewash painting works, going through four site visits and multiple rectification attempts, I felt it was important to share my experience. My key concerns were: 1. Unsatisfactory workmanship despite four visits – visible patchiness, uneven areas and touch-up marks remained unresolved. 2. Lack of basic paint protection – paint was left on switches, flooring and carpentry, leaving me to spend my own time cleaning up after the works. 3. Poor ownership of unresolved issues – during the final rectification session, I felt that I had to personally identify defects and drive the quality control process. I engaged Urban Walls because they position themselves as specialists in decorative limewash finishes. Given the premium pricing and reputation, I expected a high level of workmanship, attention to detail and professional guidance. Unfortunately, even after multiple rectification attempts, the final result fell short of expectations. I understand that limewash is intended to have natural variation, but there is a clear difference between intentional limewash character and workmanship defects. The final rectification was arranged shortly before my scheduled post-renovation deep cleaning, and I was informed that this would effectively be the final touch-up opportunity with no further rectifications thereafter. This left me feeling pressured to accept the outcome despite remaining concerns. What surprised me most was that during the final rectification session, I felt that I had to continuously inspect the walls and point out defects myself. By the end of the session, I was exhausted from scrutinising every wall and surface to ensure issues were not missed. When I asked how the remaining issues could be resolved, I was repeatedly told that the wall quality was the cause. When I pressed further on what could be done, I was told that they were “just painters”. If extensive plastering was genuinely required to achieve the expected finish, I would have expected this to be identified and communicated before the painting works commenced, rather than after defects had already been highlighted. The biggest issue for me, however, was the lack of basic paint protection. I personally witnessed works being carried out without proper masking. Even some light switches were not taped, and I ended up taping certain switches myself. Paint ended up on switches, flooring, carpentry and other finished surfaces. My post-renovation cleaners informed me that paint stains were outside their scope, which meant I was left spending my own time scrubbing paint residue from my newly renovated home. By the end of the process, I felt exhausted and defeated. Looking back, I genuinely do not understand why I had to spend so much of my own time inspecting walls, identifying defects and cleaning paint residue after paying almost S$6,000 for what was marketed as a specialist service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Urban Walls.

Certain areas of the ceiling and walls were already beyond rectification prior to our works commencing. This was discussed and acknowledged before the project began. 2. With regard to the holes that were drilled and patched by your contractor, these were not part of our original scope of work. Nevertheless, as a gesture of goodwill, we offered to sand and improve these areas at no additional charge. The photo shared in your review appears to have been taken before our rectification works were completed. For completeness and fairness, we would appreciate if updated photos showing the condition after rectification could also be shared. 3. Some of the issues highlighted relate to common HDB areas, which fall outside our scope of work and responsibility. These matters would be more appropriately addressed with the relevant authorities. Throughout the project, the team has continue to attend to the concerns raised and advised that a final touch-up should be carried out after move-in. Freshly painted surfaces require time to cure fully, and moving activities often result in minor scratches, dents, or imperfections that are best addressed after furniture installation and handover. Despite this, we accommodated requests for an earlier return visit and carried out additional rectification works beyond our original scope as a goodwill gesture. Our intention throughout was to be helpful and to achieve the best possible outcome for your home. We welcome constructive feedback and continuously strive to improve our services. At the same time, we believe it is important that feedback reflects the full context of a project. Where circumstances are more nuanced than what is presented, we feel it is only fair to provide our perspective. Notwithstanding our differences in view, our commitment to our customers remains unchanged.    If we had to pick again, we would definitely go with urban walls again and I think that says alot. We had an excellent experience with Nic/Tom and Rashed. They were professional, flexible, and incredibly responsive throughout the entire process. Any changes or touch-ups we requested were rectified quickly and without fuss. They were also very accommodating with hours and rates, which made the whole renovation much less stressful. What really stood out was the amount of effort they put into fine details and touch-ups to ensure the finish was just right. The end result is a beautifully finished home, and you can tell they truly care about delivering a perfect outcome. Highly recommended! 10/5 stars :)

    Had a very good experience with urbanwallsg. Was looking for limewash specialist online and found them. They were very professional with both communication and work. During the renovation there was some hiccups with the timeline and works, Tom was very accommodative to provide an additional session to touch up some areas which wasn’t covered previously due to the Reno timeline. Even after all the sessions they came down to rectify any defects from the painting. I would highly recommend them if you’re looking to paint your place. They did a fantastic job! Thank you

    I was skeptical at first and unsure if I should use limewash paint for the house. The team provided a good consultation and assurance. After the first coating of painting, the limewash effect was not that great. The team did another round of coating to meet the expected result. And the result is really good.
